Costa Rica is an exotic destination just a short flight away from the U.S. with no jet lag; in short, a great “bang for the buck.” It really is the perfect vacation for families with kids of all ages, couples or relaxation-seeking individuals. Laid-back Costa Ricans (“Ticos” in the local parlance) greet visitors with a friendly smile and “¡pura vida!” – a contagious greeting that can mean hello, how’s it going or just plain contentment. With accommodations and activities at every price point, Costa Rica is a true gem that is accessible to all. Arenal, the famed volcano that boasts world-class hiking, zip lining and other adventure activities also offers stunning hot springs and spa treatments at exquisite resorts such as Tabacón. Monkeys, sloths, butterflies and birds of all colors can be found in much of the country, but they are especially abundant in Manuel Antonio and the more remote Osa Peninsula, where the rainforest meets the beach. World class surfing for beginners and experts alike can be found on both coasts: check out the cool Caribbean vibe at the Hotel Aguas Claras. The less developed southern Nicoya Peninsula now features brand new beachside property Nantipa (“blue” in the local indigenous language), highlighting wellness and the healthy lifestyle this “Blue Zone” region is famous for.

The hardest part about traveling to Costa Rica is deciding on an itinerary. With my first-hand knowledge and extensive in-country contacts, I’d love to help you plan what makes the most sense for your priorities and get you extra amenities at the best properties at no extra cost to you. Whether it’s your first time to this amazing country or you’re returning to recapture some of the magic, Costa Rica awaits. ¡Pura Vida!
